" As atmospherically different as these pieces are, the strings and woodwinds are just as differentiated. Rhythmically pointed, vividly articulated, highly virtuosic, dynamically agile, with an enormous variety of colours - "La Dolcezza" can breathe delicately, sharpen sounds sharply and grab hold just as rousingly as it forces you to pause." (NWZ)
The ensemble "la dolcezza" was founded in 1991 by baroque violinist Veronika Skuplik. The core of the ensemble consists of a string section, which is supplemented by singers and wind instruments. Veronika Skuplik derived the ensemble's name from a text by Giovanni Battista Doni from 1640, according to which the violin is characterised by "the sweetness (dolcezza) of the lute" in addition to the "binding nature of the viole, the dignity of the harp, the power of the trumpet, the liveliness of the fife, the melancholy of the flute and the touching quality of the cornett".
