Works by Johann Sebastian Bach and Erland Hilden, Bert Matter, Toon Hagen and Dieteich Buxtehude.
The wonderful organ in St. Cosmae et Damiani, built between 1668 and 1675 by Berendt Huss and his journeyman Arp Schnitger, is one of the most important baroque organs in northern Germany. It has 42 largely original stops on three manuals and pedal.
Vincent Lübeck, the first organist of St. Cosmae, worked here until 1702 and is still known as a composer today. The organ is crowned by the three main Christian virtues: faith, hope, and love, and on the back by King David with his harp.
Experience a special organ concert with organist and district cantor Thorsten Ahlrichs, who will combine early works by Johann Sebastian Bach with contemporary music, demonstrating the continuous cultural flow of organ art in Northern Europe.
