Creating harmony between tradition and the present – Rouzbeh Rafie
Iranian-born composer and our Composer of Residence 2025 Rouzbeh Rafie draws inspiration from numerous sources, including literature, folk music and scientific and mathematical concepts such as chaos theory. His compositions aim to capture the complex nature of memory and explore concepts such as archetypes, memory and the perception of time. Rafie’s artistic endeavours are influenced by these various sources, allowing him to create a sound that aims to be both “ancient” and contemporary. Rouzbeh Rafie will talk about how to “transform the past compositionally by creating harmony between tradition and the present”.
